About the Role: Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join our 100% remote and globally distributed team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and high-performance web applications. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a collaborative environment where innovation and quality are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deploy robust new features for our platform using Ruby on Rails.
• Maintain and improve existing codebase, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and upholding high code quality standards.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Actively participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment.
• Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, ensuring system stability and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in web development with a strong focus on Ruby on Rails.
• Proficiency with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data migration.
• Solid understanding of API design principles (RESTful, GraphQL) and experience building and integrating APIs.
• Demonstrated experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., RSpec, Minitest) to ensure code quality and prevent regressions.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques for Ruby on Rails applications.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and version control systems like Git.
• Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in a distributed team environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with frontend frameworks like React.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture.
• Contributions to open source projects.
