Set each person's local working hours above to see the overlap windows.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Add your team's time zones

One row per person or location. Defaults cover most common remote setups.

  2. 2

    Set working hours

9 to 5 by default. Bump someone earlier or later if they prefer flexible hours.

  3. 3

    Spot the overlap

Each row highlights the hours when everyone is online. Pick a meeting time everyone can live with.

Why time zone overlap matters for remote work

On a fully remote team, the difference between three hours of overlap and one hour of overlap is the difference between getting unblocked the same day and waiting until tomorrow. Even async first companies usually agree on a "core" window where everyone is reachable for live calls, pair work, and quick decisions.

This calculator is meant for that conversation. Use it when you are scoping a new role, joining a globally distributed team, or scheduling a recurring meeting that has to land at a fair hour for the whole group. It is also useful when you are deciding whether to apply to a job that lists "must overlap with Pacific Time" or similar restrictions.

Frequently asked questions

What is a time zone overlap calculator?
A time zone overlap calculator finds the hours when two or more remote teammates are all within their working hours. It accounts for each person's local time zone and working schedule, including daylight saving.
How many time zones can I compare?
As many as your team has. Most distributed teams add three to five rows. The calculator updates instantly as you add, remove, or change zones.
Does this work for asynchronous remote teams?
Yes. Async teams still need at least one or two hours of overlap for live calls and unblocking. The calculator surfaces those windows so you can pick a recurring meeting time fairly.
How does daylight saving time get handled?
The calculator uses your browser's IANA time zone database, so it picks up daylight saving automatically for the current date. Overlap will shift by an hour around DST transitions just like it does in real life.
