About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and secure backend systems. You will work within a remote-first, collaborative environment, contributing to the full development lifecycle from concept to deployment. This position requires a proactive individual who can work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust and efficient solutions. • Contribute to the architecture and design of new backend features and services.
• Implement, test, and deploy scalable and maintainable backend applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality products.
• Ensure the performance, security, and reliability of all backend systems.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring best practices are followed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a seasoned backend professional with a strong track record in Ruby on Rails development. Ideal candidates will possess a deep understanding of database design, cloud infrastructure, and modern software development practices. Your ability to solve complex problems, communicate effectively, and contribute to a collaborative team environment will be key to your success.

• Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
• Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails, including designing and building large-scale applications.
• Strong expertise in database design and optimization, particularly with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, containerization technologies like Docker, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with various testing frameworks and methodologies (e.g., RSpec, Minitest).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
