The Opportunity

The Solana Foundation is searching for a Senior Accountant to significantly contribute to the development of the accounting function for both the Foundation and its wholly owned US subsidiary, SF Operations Inc. This role is primarily operations-focused, reporting directly to the Controller. You will be responsible for managing the daily financial mechanisms of the organization, including bill payments, revenue collection, spend control, and ensuring accurate ledger entries across two entities and different accounting standards.

The initial six months will concentrate on system enhancements, such as implementing a new expense management and bill pay platform, integrating an agentic procurement system, and automating accounts receivable. Following this, the role will expand across the broader finance function. This position requires designing process architecture from the ground up rather than inheriting existing systems, making it ideal for someone comfortable with rebuilding workflows as well as performing month end closes.

Key Responsibilities

• End to End Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash Ownership: Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) as robust processes, not just queues. Identify bottlenecks, propose and implement solutions. Take full responsibility for cycle times, accuracy, and ensuring a positive vendor and customer experience.
• Finance Tech Stack Development: Collaborate with the Controller to build and optimize the finance technology stack. Lead the onboarding of new expense management and bill pay platforms, integrate agentic procurement tools, and automate AR. Evaluate the optimal balance between tools, automation, and human intervention, owning implementations through to full adoption.
• Company Spend Control: Oversee corporate cards and the expense program. Review employee and company spending, and enforce policy through established processes rather than repeated reminders.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain a clean general ledger for both entities, ensuring all financial information is accurately recorded in compliance with the relevant GAAP standards for Swiss and US based entities.
• Comprehensive Reconciliations: Prepare and lead balance sheet and asset reconciliations, including traditional bank transactions and onchain wallet activity.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and support month end close activities, financial reporting, budget versus actual analysis, and provide ad hoc analysis for the Finance team and wider business stakeholders.
• Proactive Control Gap Closure: Continuously monitor processes, procedures, and controls for record keeping accuracy, proactively identifying weaknesses and implementing robust controls to mitigate risks.

Who You Are

• Experienced Accountant: A qualified accountant with 3-5 years of combined public accounting firm and relevant industry experience, with a strong emphasis on accounting, financial management, and financial reporting. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential required. FinTech experience is highly valued; blockchain experience is a significant advantage.
• Systems Fluent: Hands on experience with Xero or comparable platforms like QuickBooks. Comfortable with Airtable and other automation friendly databases. You possess strong opinions on how tools should integrate and have a proven track record of building these integrations yourself.
• Adaptable to AI and Agentic Systems: Agile within an evolving accounting technology landscape, capable of leading tooling projects rather than waiting for direction.
• Onchain Literate: Familiar with blockchain technology and the digital asset space, comfortable reconciling wallet activity alongside traditional bank statements.
• Startup Pace Ready: Proven experience working in a fast moving start up environment or a rapidly scaling company, demonstrating the ability to maintain accuracy amidst constant change.
• Detail Oriented and Analytical: Possess strong problem solving instincts and an exceptional attention to detail that allows you to identify issues others might overlook.
