The Opportunity
The Solana Foundation is searching for a highly driven Senior Data Engineer. The ideal candidate will also possess a strong acumen for inference, capable of making sense of complex data and articulating compelling narratives. In this role at Solana Foundation, you will facilitate development across the entire ecosystem, including the core protocol, infrastructure, and applications. Effectively interpreting this data will significantly impact the efficacy of each release and guide applications on how best to serve their customers. Solana offers immense potential to facilitate multi-trillion dollar financial industries such as markets, payments, and asset management, and this role provides the opportunity to grow alongside this burgeoning industry.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Collaborate closely with blockchain engineers to index blockchain data and construct robust data pipelines.
- Efficiently parse and index diverse data formats, ensuring both high performance and low latency.
- Thoroughly document technical processes and solutions to facilitate comprehensive knowledge sharing across the team.
- Work with the Solana Improvement Document process to guarantee smooth updates and prevent regressions during testing or in live environments.
- Assist in gathering and formulating scores for informative metrics, such as decentralization scores, transaction inclusion performance, and economic indicators.
You ideally have:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related roles.
- A strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and efficient data processing techniques.
- Familiarity with blockchain technologies, including transaction data, smart contracts, and consensus mechanisms.
- A strong understanding of one of the following big data frameworks: Spark, Iceberg, Polars, or Delta-rs.
- Experience with Solana data and the Solana ecosystem is especially beneficial.
- Proficiency in big data and pipelining tools (such as Clickhouse, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Kafka, Rabbit MQ, Pub/Sub).
- Experience with distributed data systems and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
Bonus points for:
- Having contributed to open-source projects.
- Having served AI use cases by deploying live agents or Managed Control Plane (MCP) to production environments.
- Proficiency in Rust.
