Senior QA Engineering Manager at Camunda

About the Role

Camunda is seeking a Senior Manager, QA Engineering to spearhead the end to end Quality Assurance strategy for Camunda 8. This pivotal role involves enhancing quality governance through stringent quality gates, developing outcome driven automation, and providing strategic reporting to influence roadmap and release decisions. The successful candidate will manage two teams - functional and reliability - totaling 12 individual contributors, a principal engineer, and another manager. Responsibilities include evolving the team structure for scalability and ensuring comprehensive quality coverage for business users, developers, and administrators operating in Kubernetes, cloud, and bare metal environments. This unique leadership position reports directly to the VP of Engineering.

What you'll be doing

• Own and drive the complete QA strategy for Camunda 8, establishing crucial quality gates and fostering cross team accountability.
• Collaborate with principal engineering to advance reliability, performance, and resilience testing practices.
• Guide the automation strategy and QA processes to empower teams in delivering high quality outcomes efficiently.
• Develop insightful quality metrics, dashboards, and reports to inform leadership and critical roadmap decisions.
• Lead and scale multiple QA teams, including managers, principal engineers, and individual contributors, adapting the structure for maximum impact.
• Influence key cross functional stakeholders - across engineering, product, UX, documentation, and field teams - to embed a culture of quality throughout the organization.

What you bring

• Ability and/or willingness to engage with and utilize our product.
• A proven track record of leading QA within engineering organizations comprising 100 to 500 people, demonstrating measurable impact.
• Capacity to define and implement comprehensive QA strategies, quality gates, and data informed decision making across diverse teams.
• Comfort in maintaining a connection to hands on QA execution while simultaneously leading strategically.
• Extensive experience in elevating QA standards for complex technical products, including thorough coverage for developer and admin personas, and expertise in high load, performance, and resilience testing.
• Skill in aligning engineering, product, UX, documentation, and field teams towards unified quality objectives.
• Background in enterprise software or workflow automation.

Nice-to-haves:

• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, cloud technologies, microservices architectures, and associated operational challenges.
• Practical experience with testing tools such as Playwright, TestRail, or integrating testing within CI/CD environments.
• Experience with chaos engineering or advanced reliability and performance benchmarking.
• Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change within QA practices.

Compensation

Camunda offers competitive, fair, and transparent compensation packages. Salary ranges are determined by location, with "Standard" and "Major" markets (global tech hubs) reflecting local competition. The Annual Total Target Cash (comprising base salary plus 100% variable target, where applicable) outlined below covers the minimum for a Standard market to the maximum for a Major market. Final offers are based on individual skills, experience, and location; new hires are typically offered within the first half of the range to facilitate future growth.

• United States: $175,600.00 to $283,100.00
• United Kingdom: £110,200.00 to £181,300.00
• Singapore: S$218,100.00 to S$327,100.00
• Canada: C$186,400.00 to C$306,700.00
