The Role: Engineering Manager, Member Experience

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Member Experience server team. This team is responsible for the complete member lifecycle, from initial application through onboarding, payments, and ongoing monthly renewals. This includes managing application and acceptance processes, authentication, login, onboarding flows, subscriptions and in-app purchases (including Raya+), reactivation strategies, referral programs, and member communications. You will be working on building net new payment systems designed for scale, offering high ownership and direct impact on revenue.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and foster the growth of a team of server engineers, covering hiring, onboarding, and career development, to cultivate a high-performance and collaborative culture.
• Contribute directly to the codebase and provide technical leadership in architecture, system design, and critical engineering decisions.
• Partner with product, design, and data teams to define, scope, and deliver high-impact features, overseeing execution from concept to launch.
• Oversee the continuous development and enhancement of scalable, secure, and efficient services within a cloud environment.
• Maintain high standards for engineering quality, including code standards, testing practices, operational readiness, and long term maintainability.
• Operate as a player/coach, with an expected contribution of approximately 50% hands on engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 2 years of experience managing high performing engineering teams.
• Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, coupled with familiarity in cloud architecture, services, deployment models, and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with MongoDB and PostgreSQL databases.
• Production experience with Apple StoreKit payments and subscriptions.
• Production experience with Stripe payments and subscriptions for a B2C product.
• Experience serving within and administering an operational excellence program, covering production readiness, observability, and on call duties.
• Proven ability to lead projects from initial concept through launch, effectively balancing speed and quality.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross functional partners to achieve business impact.
• Experience in sourcing, screening, hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers, demonstrating strong communication and leadership skills.
• An AI forward mindset, with a curiosity for applying emerging technologies to enhance both developer and product experiences.
