About the Role

We are actively seeking an OrioleDB Deployment Engineer to join our dedicated OrioleDB Team and enhance our OrioleDB offering. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the OrioleDB team, contributing significantly to technical decision-making and refining our internal methodologies. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in asynchronous, fast paced environments and are passionate about developing scalable developer tools that can serve millions of users.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Packaging software into the supabase/postgres repository using Nix (with flakes), and assisting with the gradual transition from traditional to Nix based packaging.
• Managing OrioleDB release lifecycles, ensuring timely major, minor, and extension upgrades.
• Expanding platform release systems to empower developers with increased self-service capabilities.
• Optimizing CI/CD pipelines and tooling, specifically enhancing GitHub Actions, team specific tools, and refining testing and release strategies.
• Resolving production issues by proactively identifying and rectifying problems in customer deployments.
• Maintaining best practices and tests to guarantee enhanced stability and reduced deployment risks.
• Co-owning the seamless integration of OrioleDB into the Supabase product ecosystem.

You Might Be a Good Fit If You

• Possess 3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem, including extensions and performance optimization.
• Are an Infrastructure Expert with demonstrated experience in management, tooling, and optimization.
• Are proficient in the Nix package management system (including flakes) along with Ansible, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS, and Kubernetes.
• Have experience building for multiple architectures, particularly Linux and Darwin/macOS aarch64 targets.
• Are comfortable in polyglot environments, including builds for C/C++, Go, JavaScript, and Rust based projects.
• Communicate clearly and effectively across both technical and non-technical audiences, especially when interacting with customers.
• Have experience working in asynchronous or globally distributed teams and highly value independent, proactive problem solving.
• Are willing to mentor, taking responsibility for educating the engineering team on how to use and contribute to our Nix based work.
• Have experience with integrating emerging features into widely used managed hosted product platforms.
