Business Architect Position at Applaudo

We are seeking a skilled Business Architect who enjoys transforming complex business needs into technology solutions that are scalable, secure, and cost effective. You will work closely with business stakeholders, technology owners, and development teams. This role requires leadership in discovery sessions, option evaluation, and making justified decisions based on clear trade-offs.

Contract Details

This position is offered under a part-time contractor model, expecting 22 hours per week initially for a period of 3 months, with the potential for extension.

Key Competencies Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is desired, or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on software development experience, including at least 2+ years in technical leadership or solution architecture.
• Proven experience with Backend architecture using .NET or an equivalent enterprise stack.
• Cloud architecture experience specifically on Azure, covering app services, databases, data pipelines, networking, and security.
• Experience working with distributed and service-oriented architectures, including APIs, integrations, and messaging systems.
• Knowledge of data architecture, including relational databases, performance tuning, archiving, and data retention strategies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and code quality practices, preferably using Azure DevOps or Jenkins and static analysis tools.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies, software testing strategy, and various software development and design patterns.
• Strong capability in documenting architecture thoroughly (solution diagrams, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and technical specifications, including disaster recovery plans) and effectively justifying budget and technical decisions to clients.
• Excellent persuasive communication skills to present technical proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential technology risks.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Leading discovery sessions to translate business requirements into architecture proposals, defining non-functional requirements, and creating technical roadmaps.
• Designing solutions tailored for high-volume data and media workloads, ensuring scalability, resilience, storage efficiency, and cost control.
• Assessing the existing technology landscape, anticipating future risks (such as end of support or capacity limitations), and proposing necessary modernization strategies.
• Evaluating various technical options and providing clear justifications for decisions and required budgets, backed by detailed analysis.
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive architecture documentation, such as solution diagrams, ADRs, and technical specifications, including robust disaster recovery documentation.
• Collaborating closely with release and quality assurance processes, managing risk classification for changes, and defining rollback and backup strategies, and handling change approvals.
• Communicating effectively with all stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, in Spanish and English.
• Disseminating project knowledge across the team to ensure all members fully grasp essential details.
• Identifying opportunities to enhance internal processes and creating new business opportunities that align with overall business objectives.
