About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Turso core database team and help advance the future of agentic databases. Turso is both an Open Source database that serves as a replacement for SQLite, with an ongoing project to support the Postgres interface, and a Cloud offering where users can provision databases on demand. You will collaborate closely with customers and other teams at Supabase to define the future of databases in a world where users and agents generate millions of databases daily. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in async, fast-paced environments and is eager to build database technology tools that can scale to billions.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Driving the progress of the Turso Open Source database, with a specific focus on the Postgres compatibility layer.
• Ensuring code reliability so it never breaks, establishing the necessary systems and guarantees for this to happen.
• Maintaining the Turso Cloud operations, which includes the Cloud API and data plane operations.
• Improving the scalability of Turso Cloud operations to support a 100x increase in the number of databases.

Who You Might Be A Good Fit If You

• You have previous experience working on databases or other high stakes low level systems, such as Hypervisors, OS Kernels, or storage devices.
• You have experience collaborating with remote teams and contributing to Open Source communities.
• You have a passion for correct working systems and possess the experience in tools like Deterministic Simulation Testing, formal verification methods, fuzz and differential testing.
• You have experience deploying, operating, and debugging large scale software systems in production cloud environments, such as AWS and Kubernetes.
• You have experience improving the observability, reliability, and performance of complex cloud systems.
• You are comfortable working with Rust.
• You are comfortable utilizing LLM assisted development and evaluations.
• You are comfortable working with Embedded databases.
• You can communicate clearly to both technical and non technical audiences.
• You are energized by solving real world problems for developers.
• You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and moving quickly.
