Founding Technical Program Manager - Supabase at Supabase

About This Role

Supabase is seeking its first Technical Program Manager to join a newly established Technical Program Management function, reporting directly to the Head of TPM. This foundational role offers the opportunity to design and implement how strategic, cross-functional projects are delivered across a globally distributed organization.

As a TPM at Supabase, you will be the crucial link between various teams and functions, managing dependencies for large-scale programs. You will also champion and enhance the use of Linear as a standard tool.

This position is ideal for individuals who possess a genuine curiosity for ambiguous and complex challenges, are self-directed, and demonstrate strong conviction in their craft.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) teams, alongside other stakeholders, to structure and lead intricate, cross-team initiatives. This includes clearly defining scope and value, securing commitments across a distributed organization, setting timelines, and overseeing activities from initial design through to launch.
• Design robust systems by establishing tracking, reporting, and escalation mechanisms to effectively monitor risk and progress.
• Develop processes that ensure launch readiness is predictable, consistent, and well-coordinated among all cross-functional participants.
• Ask critical questions to clarify priorities and scope, providing asynchronous teams with the necessary context to continue building and resolving roadblocks.
• Cultivate trusted relationships with stakeholders, maintaining transparency regarding program goals, commitments, risks, and delivery quality, primarily through clear written communication.
• Proactively identify bottlenecks before they escalate into blockers, develop potential solutions, and clearly communicate the trade-offs associated with each option.
• Map dependencies and relationships across various projects and teams, ensuring coordinated delivery among groups that operate independently.
• Hold Engineering, Product, and Design teams accountable for their own delivery outcomes while you track progress, identify risks, and facilitate problem resolution.
• Develop strong technical and domain fluency to become an active and credible member of the delivery team and its leadership triad.

Candidate Profile

• Possess 7+ years of experience in technical program management within software, SaaS, or systems development environments.
• Have a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale, cross-team software delivery programs to completion.
• Are comfortable operating in a fully remote, async-first work environment.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and quickly establish credibility with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
• Can influence and drive outcomes through others, even without a direct reporting relationship.
• Exhibit strong attention to detail and a bias toward execution, relying on data-driven insights rather than opinions.
• Have strong technical fluency to proactively identify risks in a plan and engage effectively with senior engineers on architecture and dependencies.
• Possess experience with Linear, Jira, or similar project management tools at scale.
