Job Overview: Senior Partner Manager at Automattic for Agencies
Automattic for Agencies, the dedicated agency partnerships division of Automattic, is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Partner Manager. This pivotal role involves managing and developing crucial relationships with our most strategic agency partners, with a primary focus on significantly boosting WordPress VIP (WPVIP) revenue.
As a Senior Partner Manager, you will be instrumental in nurturing a portfolio of partners, driving VIP product enablement, and fostering widespread adoption. Your responsibilities will span from onboarding and strategizing with new strategic agencies to crafting and delivering comprehensive strategic plans designed to achieve mutual growth for both WordPress VIP and our valued partners. Leveraging your extensive experience, you will spearhead partner development, ensure renewals, and proactively identify new opportunities within existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities of a Senior Partner Manager:
- Drive Sales Growth: Actively drive sales of Automattic products through partner channels with digital agencies, identifying and capitalizing on new revenue generation opportunities.
- Build Strong Relationships: Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with a portfolio of Premier partners. Provide comprehensive support throughout their journey, from onboarding to expansion, by deeply understanding their business strategies and needs.
- Execute Growth Strategies: Develop and implement high-impact strategies aimed at enhancing partner retention, improving net revenue retention (NRR), and fostering overall partner growth.
- Represent Automattic: Effectively represent Automattic and increase awareness of our diverse products and services within partner organizations through engaging one-to-many approaches.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain frequent communication with key stakeholders within WordPress VIP and other business units, providing essential updates, alerts, and status reports on partner relationships.
- Trusted Advisor: Serve as the agency's trusted advisor, guiding them in establishing strong WordPress VIP business practices, successfully delivering projects, and scaling their own growth through Automattic for Agencies and VIP.
- Provide Training & Support: Offer comprehensive training and ongoing support to partners, deepening their understanding of Automattic’s products, services, and unique value propositions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively across functions with internal and external Business Unit (BU) teams, including Marketing, Sales/Customer Success, Happiness, Product, and Executive Leadership.
- Marketing & Sales Enablement: Work collaboratively on marketing and sales enablement programs tailored for partners with respective BUs.
- Event Participation: Attend and support flagship WordCamps, explore potential sponsorships, and actively participate in partner events to drive lead generation and boost brand visibility.
- Gather Feedback: Collect valuable feedback from partners to continually improve products, services, and the overall partnership experience.
- Advocate for Partners: Champion partner needs within Automattic or their specific BU niche.
- Stay Informed: Remain continuously informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments. Utilize these insights to refine partnership strategies.
- Ensure Compliance: Guarantee partners adhere to all agreed-upon standards and compliance requirements.
- Enhance Ecosystem: Proactively seek ways to enhance the overall partner ecosystem within Automattic.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Extensive Experience: 8+ years of proven experience as a Partner Manager, Relationship Manager, Customer Success Manager, or Account Manager, ideally within a technology or media company (SaaS experience preferred).
- Portfolio Management Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in managing a high-volume portfolio of partners, consistently meeting and exceeding Net Revenue Retention (NRR) and growth objectives.
- System Integrator Collaboration: Experience working with Global System Integrator/System Integrator organizations to build new alliances, introduce technology practices, and effectively maintain and scale them.
- Executive Communication: Proven experience communicating and negotiating with C-suite and senior executive stakeholders, both within partner accounts and internally.
- Outstanding Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to captivate audiences, whether presenting, conversing on the phone, or crafting concise blog posts.
- Dynamic Presentation Skills: Highly adept at delivering compelling presentations to individuals and groups, including C-level executives, in both in-person and virtual settings.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills essential for seamless collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Ecosystem Familiarity: Familiarity with Automattic’s extensive brand portfolio and product suite within the WordPress ecosystem, alongside knowledge of other key brands and third-party products/solutions commonly leveraged by agencies (e.g., hosts, dev tools).
- Technical Concept Communication: Ability to effectively grasp and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Travel Readiness: Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally to cultivate relationships with partners at events like flagship WordCamps.
- Adaptability: Highly adaptable to emerging technologies, industry trends, and shifts in the competitive landscape.
Compensation & Work Environment:
The salary range for this role is $125,000-$180,000 USD plus commission. Please note that Automattic maintains global salary ranges, paying in local currency regardless of your location. For this specific position, we are prioritizing applicants with extensive experience in the North American market and those available to work consistently within a North American time zone. We seek high-caliber candidates who can deliver a net positive impact for Automattic, and pay will reflect your potential contribution and impact, which may sometimes exceed the stated range.
