Worldwide 🌍 Work from Anywhere Full time Senior Posted  Apply before Nov 01, 2026

Job Description

About Supabase

Supabase is a PostgreSQL development platform created by developers, for developers. It offers a comprehensive backend solution including Database, Authentication, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime capabilities, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed to support scalable growth.

About the Role

We are actively developing a high-performance CI/CD execution platform, similar to runners found in tools like Buildkite, GitHub Actions, and Blacksmith CI. This platform is designed to reliably execute developer pipelines at scale, integrate seamlessly with source control, and automate crucial build, test, and deployment workflows. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building the distributed systems responsible for running CI/CD pipelines securely and efficiently. This includes orchestrating ephemeral compute environments, managing secure build isolation, scheduling jobs across large fleets of workers, and ensuring the platform's reliability and scalability. This position is ideal for an individual who thrives in asynchronous, fast-paced environments and is passionate about creating developer tools that can scale to millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Design and enhance the core orchestration engine that manages the lifecycle of creating, merging, and rebasing Supabase Branches.
  • Provision ephemeral, sandboxed execution environments on EKS / ECS for securely running untrusted build workloads from connected Git repositories, including managing sensitive secrets.
  • Implement robust job scheduling mechanisms capable of scaling to thousands of concurrent builds.
  • Optimize and reduce pipeline runtimes through effective caching, artifact storage, and dependency reuse strategies.
  • Manage complex retry, timeout, cancellation, and failure-propagation logic to ensure pipelines behave predictably even under failure conditions.
  • Instrument the entire pipeline lifecycle with comprehensive observability tooling to provide traces, metrics, and structured logs to end users.
  • Develop configuration files (JSON / TOML) and integrations (Terraform / Pulumi) that enable teams to easily define, trigger, and inspect pipelines as code.

Qualifications

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Possess strong software engineering skills, with proficiency in Go and Typescript being essential.
  • Have 3+ years of experience in building and operating cloud infrastructure or distributed systems at scale.
  • Demonstrate solid cloud infrastructure knowledge, particularly with AWS constructs. Prior experience using AWS SDKs and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Pulumi or Terraform to build and operate infrastructure is highly preferred.
  • Maintain a production operations mindset, evidenced by a track record of building reliable, observable, and maintainable systems.
  • Exhibit an ownership mindset, thriving on operating independently with high-level guidance.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Have experience working in asynchronous or globally distributed teams.
  • Are energized by solving real-world problems for developers.
  • Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and capable of moving quickly in a dynamic environment.

What We Offer

  • Equity/Stock Options: Every team member receives ESOP (equity ownership) in the company, ensuring everyone shares in our collective success.
  • Home Office Stipend: A budget is provided to help you set up your ideal work environment, covering essentials like a laptop, monitor, headphones, or any tools that enhance your productivity.
  • Health Insurance: Supabase covers 100% of health insurance costs for employees and 80% for their dependents, prioritizing your and your family’s wellbeing.
