Our client is seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python and Django to join their fully distributed team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building the core architecture and infrastructure that supports innovative AI and machine learning products, impacting the lives of millions. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient backend systems using Python and Django.
• Collaborate with product and data science teams to translate requirements into technical specifications and implement solutions.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, adhering to best practices in software development.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality and consistent code across the team.
• Troubleshoot and debug production issues, providing timely resolutions.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, helping to shape the future of our platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
• Utilize cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, to deploy and manage services.
• Work with database technologies like PostgreSQL and in-memory stores such as Redis.
• Implement and manage messaging queues with Kafka for asynchronous processing.
• Leverage Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.

Requirements

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Backend Engineer with significant expertise in Python and the Django framework.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and experience with database design and optimization.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including services like EC2, S3, RDS, etc.
• Proficiency with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with messaging queues like Kafka.
• Experience with Redis for caching and session management.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
• Proficient in writing comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working in a remote team.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Working Hours

This is a remote position with flexible working hours, requiring overlap with either:
Europe: GMT+0 to GMT+4
America: GMT-4 to GMT-8
