Job Description

About Dandy

Dandy is revolutionizing the dental industry, a market valued over $400B. Supported by leading venture capital firms, we are on an ambitious mission to simplify and modernize every aspect of dental practices through cutting edge technology. Expanding our global presence, Dandy is developing an operating system for dental offices worldwide, empowering clinicians and their teams with innovative technology and world class support to achieve more for their practices, their people, and their patients.

About the Role

We are seeking an Operations Finance Manager to serve as the key finance partner for our manufacturing network. In this high ownership role, you will oversee the financial landscape for our manufacturing sites and third party lab network, helping operators gain a deep understanding of their cost structure and identify areas for improvement. This position requires a hands on approach, delving into overhead absorption, cost per unit, and vendor economics. You will also play a crucial role in strategic decisions regarding equipment purchases, site expansion or consolidation, and insourcing opportunities. This role offers significant visibility across Operations and Finance leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Manufacturing Site Leads: Establish and own the financial relationship with each site. Ensure every site lead is intimately familiar with their budget, understands the drivers behind variances, and has the necessary information to take action. Be the primary financial contact they consult before making decisions.
  • Collaborate with the 3P Labs team: Provide financial clarity for the routing decisions made by this team. Develop analyses to illustrate the cost implications of each routing choice, ensuring trade offs are understood in real time rather than discovered post close.
  • Manage the Operations Monthly Close: Lead pre close and preliminary close meetings with site leads. Coordinate with Cost Accounting, set clear expectations for attendees, drive follow ups to completion, and ensure all variance explanations are accurately quantified and owned.
  • Ensure Accuracy of Manufacturing COGS: Conduct detailed expense reviews on fixed overhead COGS to confirm correct booking of costs. Analyze third party lab costs to validate routing. Perform gold and precious metals margin analyses to ensure pricing aligns with markup targets.
  • Continuously Improve Processes: The current close process is evolving. We seek someone who views each cycle as an opportunity to eliminate manual work, accelerate timelines, and enhance the quality of outputs.
  • Support Strategic Decisions: Build the financial analyses for manufacturing equipment purchases, manufacturing footprint decisions, and insource versus outsource evaluations. Contribute your informed perspective on the optimal solutions, beyond just creating the models.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of comprehensive finance experience, including substantial time within a physical product business in a high growth environment.
  • Proven success in partnering with operators. You have developed strong working relationships with operational teams and can effectively translate between operational realities and financial impacts in both directions.
  • Strong ownership of recurring financial processes. You have successfully managed a close, a forecast cycle, or a reporting cadence, leaving the process improved from when you started.
  • Excellent modeling skills, with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets. Comfortable automating spreadsheet tasks using AI tools like Claude Co-Work. Adept at navigating and extracting insights from large, complex datasets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of distilling intricate analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for executive audiences.
  • A bias for action and comfort with ambiguity. You possess the backbone to challenge senior stakeholders and advocate for the correct solutions.
