The Opportunity: Market Data Lead Asia

As the Market Data Lead at Binance, you will be instrumental in establishing and leading the market data function, driving the next phase of our Traditional Finance (TradFi) expansion. This pivotal role involves owning the strategy, sourcing, licensing, and integration of essential exchange and vendor data that will underpin our new TradFi offerings. You will manage everything from real time feeds to comprehensive reference and historical data. Collaborating closely with product, engineering, legal, and finance teams, and engaging with global exchanges and data vendors, you will construct the robust data foundation necessary for the successful launch and scaling of the TradFi program.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define and own the market data strategy and roadmap for the TradFi program, meticulously identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing the exchange and vendor data crucial for upcoming TradFi products.
• Commercial Management: Lead sourcing efforts and commercial negotiations with exchanges, consolidators, and market data vendors. You will manage licensing agreements (including display / non-display, per-user, and enterprise terms), renewals, and the overall data budget.
• Data Integration: Drive end to end data integration alongside engineering teams, covering feed onboarding, data normalization, symbology and reference data management, corporate actions, and distribution to trading and client facing platforms.
• Governance & Compliance: Establish robust governance across the entire data lifecycle, encompassing entitlements management, data quality monitoring, data lineage tracking, and ensuring compliance with exchange usage policies and audit requirements.
• Partnership & Expansion: Collaborate with product, legal, and compliance teams on data licensing and redistribution terms as the TradFi roadmap evolves into new products, markets, and regions.
• Market Intelligence: Maintain an up to date view of the market data landscape, including new sources, vendors, partnership models, and pricing, to ensure our stack remains best in class and cost efficient.
• Team Building: Build and mentor a developing market data team, establishing an effective operating cadence with product and engineering departments.
• Subject Matter Expert: Serve as the in house expert on TradFi market data and market structure, effectively translating complex exchange and vendor conventions for crypto native teams.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 6 - 10 years of experience in market data or trading technology within a global online brokerage, exchange, fintech company, or market data vendor. Proven track record of establishing or scaling market data infrastructure for trading platforms.
• Market Data Expertise: Deep knowledge of the market data ecosystem, including exchange feeds, vendor products, licensing and redistribution models, entitlements, and exchange audit / compliance processes.
• Practical Integration: Hands on experience sourcing and integrating market data across one or more TradFi asset classes (equities, derivatives, commodities, fixed income, FX, indices) and various regions.
• Technical Understanding: Solid understanding of market data technology and reference data, including feed protocols, normalization techniques, symbology standards, corporate actions, and time series data distribution.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with prior experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing a data budget.
• Stakeholder Management: Excellent ability to manage stakeholders across product, engineering, legal, and finance teams, capable of navigating both technical and commercial discussions.
• Adaptability: Comfortable building from the ground up in a fast paced, high velocity environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in establishing a market data function for a brokerage launching new asset classes or expanding into new markets.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the APAC, US, and European market data landscapes and exchange policies.
• Technical fluency in SQL and Python; familiarity with common feed protocols and data architectures.
• Familiarity with market data and trading products.
