Role Overview
We are seeking motivated Kernel Build Engineer Interns to join the CloudLinux engineering team. This internship offers hands-on experience working with Linux kernel builds, packaging, and automation that support KernelCare and Endless Lifecycle Support (ELS) products. You will work with modern build systems and containerized build environments, contribute automation scripts, and help document and improve internal build processes.
What You Will Do
- Build and package Linux kernel components from source, applying patches and working with kernel configuration files.
- Maintain and improve build workflows and patch flows using Git for branch and patch management.
- Work with Docker-based build environments to containerize and standardize build pipelines.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts for build, CI, and packaging tasks using Python, Go, or JavaScript.
- Participate in documenting internal build processes and proposing improvements to increase reliability and developer productivity.
Requirements
- Practical experience with GNU/Linux operating systems and confident command line usage.
- Understanding of how software and packages are built from source, including compilation and packaging workflows.
- Experience using Git for development, patch flow and branch management.
- Experience with Docker and containerized build environments.
- Experience writing automation scripts in Python, Go, or JavaScript; some familiarity with C code is a plus.
- English proficiency at B1 level or above to collaborate effectively with the team.
