About the Role

Circle is seeking two long-term freelance translators specializing in Italian (IT). Your mission will be to translate software user interface (UI) text and online marketing materials from English into clear, natural Italian that accurately reflects local language and cultural norms. Your contributions are vital to ensuring Circle delivers a consistent and culturally relevant product and customer experience for Italian speakers.

Following onboarding, you will operate autonomously and asynchronously alongside the other Italian translator, dividing work based on availability and coordinating coverage as needed. This is an independent contractor engagement that requires minimal meetings and regular interaction via Slack.

What You Will Be Doing

• Translate English software UI text provided as keys, maintaining the original meaning, clarity, tone, variables, and formatting requirements.
• Translate online marketing content into persuasive, natural Italian tailored for the target audience.
• Apply Circle’s established translation guidelines, glossary, and style guide consistently across all assigned deliverables.
• Utilize Circle-approved key-based translation tools and other authorized systems, including approved AI tools.
• Review and resolve any quality assurance issues identified during the linguistic review process.
• Proactively communicate your availability, typical turnaround times, and potential delivery risks asynchronously via Slack.
• Coordinate with Circle and the other Italian translator to ensure workload sharing and maintain continuity during absences.

What You Need to Succeed

• Demonstrated professional experience translating software user-interface text into Italian.
• Proven professional experience translating online marketing content into Italian.
• Professional experience working within key-based translation or localization tools, rather than exclusively document based workflows.
• Native proficiency in Italian and strong comprehension of English source content, evidenced by relevant professional work.
• The ability to work independently, adhere to detailed language guidance, and make sound judgments even when the source context is incomplete.
• Willingness to participate in a review loop by investigating, reporting, and correcting quality assurance issues.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent), as most collaboration at Circle occurs asynchronously.

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with online communities, creator economy products, or software utilized by creators.
• Experience localizing content for a SaaS, membership, community, or other digital product.
