About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Engineer to join the Chess Analysis team. You will help ship improvements to the worldβs largest chess analysis cluster and maintain the cross-platform C++ chess analysis library that powers bots, Coaches, Fairplay, Game Review, Advanced Stats, and other features used by millions every day. This is a full-time, fully remote role that welcomes engineers passionate about high-quality, high-performance code and scalable distributed systems.
What Youβll Do
- Ship improvements to the chess analysis cluster that serves Game Reviews and other analysis features to millions of players.
- Design, extend, optimize, and maintain the cross-platform C++ chess analysis library used across product components.
- Contribute developer automation and tooling that accelerates the team, for example CI/CD workflows or integrations with collaboration platforms.
- Participate in system architecture and API design discussions at the application and distributed-systems level.
- Own end-to-end delivery from design through implementation, deployment, and support, and help the team move faster with practical automation.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with production expertise in C++, Go, or Python, and strong proficiency in at least one of these languages.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, service architecture, API design, deployment and operations practices, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Protocol Buffers or similar serialization frameworks is helpful.
- Fluency with Git and GitHub workflows, including branching strategies and code review processes.
- Linux/Unix proficiency for scripting, debugging, and production operations.
- Familiarity with modern developer productivity tools and AI coding assistants, and the ability to use them to increase velocity and quality.
- Strong ability to learn new technologies, context-switch across languages and domains, and take full ownership of features and systems.
