About the Role

We are hiring a Marketing & Community Manager to support the AlmaLinux Foundation, a global community-driven open-source operating system, with additional responsibilities supporting TuxCare, the Foundation’s primary sponsor. This role is approximately 75% focused on AlmaLinux initiatives and 25% on TuxCare marketing activities. You will lead community growth, engagement, events, and partner outreach while strengthening visibility across the open-source ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute Linux community-driven marketing campaigns and outreach to grow AlmaLinux adoption and contributor engagement.
  • Create and manage engaging content such as blog posts, newsletters, press releases, and social media posts.
  • Define and maintain AlmaLinux’s voice and tone across public channels and developer platforms.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support volunteers and contributors, ensuring a healthy and inclusive community experience.
  • Manage and moderate community forums, ensuring helpful, respectful, and inclusive participation.
  • Plan and run events like AlmaLinux Days and coordinate presence at industry conferences and meetups.
  • Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, contributors, and other open-source projects and communities.
  • Measure and optimize outreach, engagement, and impact using data and community feedback.
  • Support outbound marketing for TuxCare’s AlmaLinux product, including audience segmentation, campaign setup, and tracking.
  • Assist with maintaining and editing the HUGO-based website; prior development experience is a plus.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in marketing, community building, or developer-focused outreach, preferably with technical or open-source communities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate sensitive community interactions with care and empathy.
  • Strong understanding of Linux, open-source ecosystems, and technical community dynamics.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Familiarity with tools like Git, Markdown, simple website platforms (HUGO), Canva or Adobe Illustrator, and basic video editors.
  • Experience organizing events, contributing to open source, or background in design or UX is a bonus.
  • Experience in technical support or user experience is helpful.
  • English proficiency sufficient for professional collaboration and content creation.
