About the Team: Identity & Security

The Identity & Security team serves as the critical 'front door' to Binance, overseeing the registration, login, and account security experiences for all 300+ million users. Our scope includes social login, OAuth and third-party authorization, multi-factor authentication (MFA), passkeys and FIDO2, device management, account activity monitoring, and account closure processes. Currently, we are developing an in-house AI facial recognition security product for KYC verification and user safety, intended to replace our existing third-party vendor solution. This is a direct-to-consumer product that will impact hundreds of millions of users, significantly enhancing account security and identity verification at massive scale. Our work navigates the intersection of enormous scale, stringent security and regulatory mandates, and the delicate balance between preventing attackers and ensuring legitimate user access. We deploy solutions across web platforms, mobile mini programs, and in-app webviews, and we are responsible for publishing shared authentication libraries and SDKs utilized by other teams across Binance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain crucial login, registration, and account security applications for both web and mobile clients.
• Lead the end-to-end development of our in-house AI facial recognition security product, covering KYC verification, liveness detection, and face matching, to replace external vendor solutions.
• Build comprehensive authentication capabilities, including passkeys / FIDO2 (WebAuthn), authenticator apps, security keys, SMS and email verification, and biometric workflows.
• Manage the multi-factor authentication orchestration layer, defining verification strategies, step-up logic, and user-level customizations while optimizing for both security strength and completion rates with measurable outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with the AI algorithm team to seamlessly integrate facial recognition, liveness detection, and other AI model capabilities into both the product's frontend and backend, ensuring high-concurrency, low-latency online inference services.
• Maintain and evolve shared security components and logic libraries, as well as authentication SDKs, consumed and published company-wide, taking ownership of bundle size, initialization behavior, and backward compatibility.
• Develop and operate the Node.js server-side layer, including server-side rendering, route-level authentication guards, session validation and redirects, localized routing, and first-paint performance optimization.
• Build and refine the Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layer, aggregating upstream security services and translating raw error codes into user-friendly results.
• Implement platform-specific behaviors for web, mini program, and low-end device targets while ensuring clean separation between shared and platform-specific codebases.
• Drive engineering quality through robust unit and end-to-end test coverage, comprehensive instrumentation and observability, and an excellent build and local development experience.
• Utilize funnel and event data to identify drop-off points in login and verification flows, implementing data-driven optimizations.
• Collaborate effectively with product, design, risk, customer support, backend, iOS, and Android teams; independently manage the end-to-end design and delivery of specific sub-domains such as passkeys, MFA orchestration, or facial recognition verification.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3-8 years of experience in frontend or full stack engineering, particularly with consumer-facing products developed from inception or significantly evolved over several years.
• Strong command of web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, browser rendering principles, networking, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
• Deep proficiency in React 18+ and TypeScript, demonstrating a solid understanding of state management, data-fetching patterns, and the orchestration of complex multi-step forms and workflows.
• Proven production experience with Node.js, including server-side rendering or isomorphic applications, BFF layering, API aggregation and caching, and the ability to independently diagnose server-side runtime issues.
• A clear, systematic methodology for modeling complex, highly branched, stateful, interruptible, and resumable flows, specifically in authentication and verification, abstracting them into testable, reusable models.
• Solid engineering practices, encompassing modular architecture, robust component design, thorough unit and end-to-end testing, CI/CD methodologies, and sound judgment regarding breaking changes to shared libraries (versioning, staged rollout, rollback).
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) and practical experience integrating them into daily development workflows.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for independently diagnosing production issues, compatibility challenges, and performance bottlenecks.
• Fluency in Mandarin, enabling effective collaboration with China-based teams.
• Effective communication skills in English within a distributed, cross-timezone, multi-team environment.

Nice to Have Qualifications

• Experience working at AI or computer vision companies in a business-side frontend or full stack development role.
• Hands-on experience with identity and authentication systems, including WebAuthn / FIDO2 / passkeys, TOTP, OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, JWT and token lifecycle management, risk engines, or device fingerprinting.
• Experience in building direct-to-consumer security products, identity verification solutions, or KYC-related products.
• Prior experience replacing third-party vendor solutions with in-house systems, ensuring smooth business transitions.
• Knowledge of AI model engineering, such as model inference services, RAG systems, AI Agent architecture, or computer vision model integration.
• Cross-platform development experience, including mini programs, hybrid applications, and in-app webview bridging and debugging.
• Experience in shipping shared component libraries or SDKs to third-party consumers, covering multi-entry bundling, tree-shaking, semantic versioning, and integration support.
• Extensive experience with internationalization and localization at scale, including date and number formatting, RTL support, and regional compliance differences.
• A background in finance, payments, or another high-security domain, coupled with an understanding of product trade-offs imposed by compliance requirements.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting systems, staged rollout strategies, and A/B experimentation.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
