Role overview
We are hiring a Social Growth Specialist to spot cultural moments, create timely platform-native content, and drive viral engagement that connects chess to broader conversations in sport, entertainment, and culture. You will act as a finger on the pulse for trending moments, producing witty, authentic content that scales across TikTok, X, Instagram, and YouTube.
What you’ll do
- Monitor social channels, sports, and entertainment news to surface timely opportunities for chess to join the conversation.
- Create and post platform-native content such as memes, short video edits, clever copy, and reactive posts that have viral potential.
- Produce quick video edits and on-platform content using tools like CapCut, Canva, or similar workflows.
- Work closely with Social Media and Partnerships to amplify initiatives and coordinate partner interactions with creators, athletes, and other brands.
- Develop and execute bold social stunts and experiments designed to generate high-impact cultural moments.
- Track and analyze social performance to refine content strategy and identify emerging platform features and trends.
- Be prepared to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to cover major events and breaking moments.
Qualifications
- 3+ years hands-on experience growing social accounts, either personal high-growth channels or professional brand accounts.
- Deep familiarity with TikTok, X, Instagram, and YouTube, and a demonstrated instinct for meme and internet culture.
- Ability to create fast, compelling content with basic video editing and graphic tools, and to produce on-the-fly social-first assets.
- Strong written voice and an ability to craft authentic brand interactions with creators, personalities, and other communities.
- Comfort working a non-traditional schedule to chase cultural moments and live events.
- Genuine interest in chess and its community, with an ability to translate chess moments into broader cultural relevance.
Nice to have
- Experience producing viral content previously, and portfolio examples of high-engagement work.
- Hands-on familiarity with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, CapCut, or similar editing tools.
Location and schedule
This is a full-time, 100% remote role. Candidates can work from anywhere, though preferred timezones are the Americas and Canada. Flexible hours are required to cover major events and trending moments.
Compensation and benefits
