Senior Product Manager, Risk at Coinbase

This role is for a Senior Product Manager on the Risk team within the Consumer & Business group. You will be responsible for owning the product strategy and roadmap for how Coinbase detects, prevents, and responds to fraud, account takeover, and scam risk across our platform. This team builds the essential products and risk controls that protect millions of customers and billions in assets.

You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Data Science, and Risk Analytics teams to launch products that stay ahead of evolving threats while ensuring the customer experience remains fast and frictionless.

What you'll do:

• Own the product roadmap for one or more risk domains, such as ATO prevention, scam detection, or payment fraud. Define the vision, priorities, and success metrics to reduce customer losses and boost detection accuracy.
• Drive cross-functional execution with Engineering, Data Science, and Design to bring risk products from concept to launch, balancing speed, coverage, and user experience.
• Partner with Risk Analytics and ML teams to translate fraud signals, model outputs, and emerging threat patterns into actionable product requirements and control strategies.
• Lead experimentation and measurement of risk interventions, using data to quantify impact on fraud rates, false positive rates, and customer friction.
• Shape the long term risk product strategy by analyzing industry trends, regulatory shifts, and crypto specific threat vectors to keep Coinbase ahead of adversaries.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 7+ years of product management experience, including at least 3 years focused on risk, fraud, trust and safety, or payments within a consumer fintech or e-commerce setting.
• A proven track record of shipping risk or fraud products that measurably reduced loss rates, improved detection precision, or scaled risk controls across multiple product surfaces.
• Deep fluency in data driven decision making, encompassing metric definition, running experiments, and interpreting ML model performance to guide product direction.
• Experience partnering with engineering and data science teams to build and improve real time risk systems, rules engines, or ML powered detection pipelines.
• A demonstrated ability to communicate complex risk trade offs to senior leadership, translating technical fraud concepts into clear business impact narratives.
• The ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, along with benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)). The annual base salary range is $207,485 to $244,100 USD.
