The Opportunity: Senior Backend Engineer, Systems Performance

As a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in Systems Performance at Binance, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing highly scalable and reliable backend services for our core exchange platform. This position requires a proactive individual who excels in a fast-paced, distributed systems environment, contributing significantly to the global impact of our platform by ensuring optimal performance and stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant backend services that underpin our critical trading and financial infrastructure.
• Proactively identify and diagnose performance bottlenecks within complex distributed systems, implementing effective solutions for optimization.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend teams, and other engineering departments to define, plan, and execute new features and system enhancements.
• Lead and participate in rigorous code reviews, upholding high-quality coding standards, best practices, and architectural integrity.
• Efficiently troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, with a strong focus on minimizing downtime and adverse impact on user experience.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and evolution of system architecture, especially related to performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and contributing actively to team knowledge sharing and architectural discussions.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend development, with a proven track record in high-traffic, low-latency, distributed systems environments, specifically focusing on performance.
• Exceptional proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Kotlin, or Golang.
• Extensive experience with microservices architecture, designing and implementing RESTful APIs, and working with asynchronous message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with various database technologies, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis, with an emphasis on performance tuning.
• Demonstrated experience with leading cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong foundational knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and common software design patterns, with a deep understanding of performance implications.
• Familiarity with blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies is considered a significant advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, a strong sense of ownership, and the capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a distributed team.
