Job Description

Recruiter, Sales (APJ) Role Overview

As a Go-to-Market (GTM) Recruiter at GitLab, you will play a crucial role in building the go-to-market teams that drive our organizational growth. This is an individual contributor position where you will partner closely with leaders across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Professional Services, Field Operations, and Ecosystems to manage recruitment from initial intake through final hire.

Your primary responsibilities include building inclusive talent pipelines and utilizing data and market insights to make strategic hiring decisions. As you grow in this role, you will evolve into a trusted talent advisor within the organization.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the full recruitment cycle for roles such as Account Executives, Solutions Architects, Customer Success, Sales Development, and Sales Operations. You will typically handle 12 to 15 open requisitions simultaneously, ensuring accurate and timely documentation within Greenhouse.
  • Lead intake and kickoff conversations to align hiring teams on critical elements including role scope, target territory or segment, quota expectations, and ramp timelines.
  • Collaborate with hiring teams to conduct structured and equitable interviews, ensuring clear competencies are assessed and actionable feedback is provided. You must challenge assumptions and escalate potential risks or blockers proactively.
  • Utilize talent-market research, compensation benchmarks, and funnel metrics to shape search strategy and effectively address any hiring obstacles.
  • Evaluate sales candidates based on their proven track record, quota attainment, deal complexity, and experience relevant to GitLab's sales segments.
  • Develop research-based, diversity-focused sourcing strategies that strategically balance applicants, passive talent, referrals, internal talent, and targeted outreach efforts.
  • Ensure an exceptional candidate experience by maintaining disciplined pipeline management, providing proactive communication, delivering timely feedback, and handling offer negotiations with clarity regarding compensation and OTE.
  • Continuously improve recruiting practices by documenting learnings and creating reusable resources, leveraging artificial intelligence responsibly, and consistently representing GitLab's mission, values, and culture.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience in full cycle recruiting within competitive markets, including managing complex offer and compensation discussions.
  • Experience in sales or go-to-market recruiting, or a strong desire to learn about sales segments, quotas, OTE, ramp time, territory design, and sales cycles.
  • Strong developing advisor skills: building trust with stakeholders, influencing without direct authority, and expertly managing hiring team expectations.
  • A demonstrated ability to build proactive, diversity-focused sourcing strategies and maintain balanced pipelines.
  • A data driven approach, turning insights derived from funnel metrics into practical, actionable steps.
  • Exceptional organization across multiple requisitions and clear verbal and written communication across different time zones, always maintaining meticulous attention to detail and candidate care.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and recruiting tools like Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, Metaview, LinkedIn Insights, SeekOut, or comparable platforms. You must also be able to evaluate AI generated work, protect confidential information, and share responsible workflows with team members.
  • Experience recruiting for technology or business to business (B2B) software is helpful, though not required.
