Vice President, Trust and Safety at VRChat

Job Overview

Join VRChat and lead our Trust and Safety team to ensure a secure and respectful environment for our global community. This critical leadership role combines a passion for user safety with strategic product and operational experience, driving a best-in-class T&S function. The Vice President, Trust and Safety will manage and mentor VRChat’s Trust and Safety Agents and embed a “Safety by Design” mindset across the organization. You will lead Product and Operational functions to integrate safety into our product development, collaborating closely with Engineering and Operations to continuously improve internal tools and workflows. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will provide insight and direction to enhance VRChat’s overall trust and safety framework.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high performing Trust and Safety team, fostering empathy, integrity, and commitment to user safety.
• Set the strategy for Trust and Safety within the product, including tooling and support for operational functions.
• Drive VRChat's trust and safety strategy, establishing clear goals and metrics aligned with company objectives.
• Collaborate across product teams to ensure safety is designed into our products, not merely an afterthought.
• Oversee content moderation and user behavior reporting to ensure platform compliance with community guidelines and policies.
• Develop and implement scalable policies, processes, and training programs for consistent moderation and user safety.
• Engage with the broader trust and safety ecosystem, including other technology companies, NPOs, and government agencies.
• Act as a key point of contact for executive leadership, providing regular updates and strategic insights on trust and safety initiatives.
• Stay informed of industry trends and regulatory developments in online safety to maintain VRChat's leadership in digital trust and safety.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in trust and safety leadership with management experience within a consumer facing technology company, preferably in a fast paced start up environment.
• Experience in online gaming, social media, and/or community focused platforms is a plus.
• Strong understanding of content moderation practices, digital safety frameworks, and policy development.
• Demonstrated success in leading and managing high performing teams with a focus on safety, well being, and efficiency.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and advocate for trust and safety needs with key stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex safety concepts to both technical and non technical audiences.
• Familiarity with data analysis and KPI tracking, emphasizing continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Passion for VR, online communities, and fostering safe and inclusive digital spaces.
