Solutions Architect, Public Sector at GitLab
Job Description
Solutions Architect, Public Sector Role Overview
As a Public Sector Solutions Architect at GitLab, you will serve as a trusted advisor to U.S. government customers. Your primary goal is to help these customers understand how GitLab's Enterprise Edition and DevSecOps platform can effectively address their real business and mission outcomes. You will take ownership of the technical evaluation and validation phases of the sales cycle, guiding clients through proofs of concept and demonstrating value. This involves connecting GitLab's modern software development, operations, and cloud capabilities to measurable client value. You will collaborate closely with the sales team and various cross-functional GitLab groups, providing technical guidance from the initial conversation through to successful deployment, and acting as a dedicated customer advocate internally for Product, Sales, and Marketing teams.
What You Will Do
- Engage with public sector customers, both onsite and remotely, to supply technical expertise and guidance throughout the pre-sales process, which includes delivering tailored demos, technical presentations, and hands-on workshops.
- Partner with the sales team to design and execute account strategies aimed at increasing GitLab adoption within government agencies.
- Manage the technical evaluation process, encompassing the design and delivery of Proof of Concept (POC) and Proof of Value (POV), providing support for tenders and audits, and offering technical input for proposals.
- Lead the development of Customer Success Plans to capture technical success criteria and necessary handoff details from the pre-sales phase, ensuring a seamless transition to deployment and adoption.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with both technical and business stakeholders to turn them into advocates for GitLab within their respective organizations.
- Act as the internal customer advocate by channeling insights and feedback to Product, Sales, Marketing, and other relevant GitLab departments to influence product roadmap and messaging.
- Continuously maintain and expand your knowledge of GitLab and related technologies, including modern software development, operations, and cloud practices, and generate reusable assets and examples for customers and partners.
- Execute Value Stream Assessments to pinpoint opportunities for customers to improve their software delivery pipelines using GitLab.
What You Will Bring
- A background in technical pre-sales, consulting, or information technology roles, preferably serving U.S. public sector or federal customers, where you have guided clients through solution design and evaluations.
- Hands-on familiarity with GitLab and modern software development and operations practices, such as CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automation.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and associated technologies, particularly within regulated or security conscious environments.
- The proven ability to link technical solutions to tangible business or mission outcomes and to advise senior stakeholders on potential trade offs and strategic options.
- Strong, confident skills in communication and relationship building, including leading client meetings, demos, and value focused discussions in close partnership with sales and cross-functional teams.
- A proactive willingness to learn, seek feedback, and build new skills, such as familiarity with GitLab's Solutions Architect handbook and associated resources.
