About the Role

Camunda is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer who is passionate about building reliable, scalable infrastructure to help developers ship better software faster. In this role, you will design and maintain Camunda’s Kubernetes-based multi-cloud platform, enhance monitoring and observability tools, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to solve real time problems. You will own the systems that power Camunda, drive automation to elevate standards, and mentor others. What You Will Be Doing

• Design and maintain infrastructure: Evolve the Kubernetes-based, multi-cloud platform architecture, ensuring high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance. Establish best practices for configuration and network services relied upon by various teams.
• Build impactful observability: Implement and improve monitoring and alerting tools to provide SREs and developers with clear visibility into system health and performance across the stack.
• Own systems end-to-end: Adopt a "you build it, you run it" mentality, participating in on-call rotations and acting as a primary contact for quick fixes. Create runbooks and automation to manage complex problems efficiently.
• Ship features and improvements with product teams: Collaborate cross-functionally with product engineering, product management, and support to define and deliver impactful features. Contribute expertise early and often in the development cycle.
• Advance automation: Identify and automate repetitive tasks. Share knowledge with teammates to foster continuous improvement in craft. Progress is measured by system quality, not hours worked.
• Mentor and educate: Support less experienced engineers in tackling complex infrastructure challenges, breaking down technical problems into clear steps, and helping them grow their skills.

What You Bring

Must Haves:

• Deep hands on experience with Kubernetes, including building, deploying, and maintaining clusters in production environments, and managing workloads, networking, and storage at scale.
• Infrastructure as code expertise, fluent in tools like Terraform (or similar IaC tools), with knowledge of versioning, testing, and safely deploying infrastructure changes.
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring and observability, having worked with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms for system instrumentation and critical alerting.
• Strong 3rd-level support and incident response skills, with experience responding to production incidents, diagnosing complex issues, and communicating clearly under pressure. Understanding of root cause analysis and proactive issue prevention.
• A passion for automation and enhancing quality, viewing manual work as a problem to be solved and caring deeply about building reliable, maintainable, and understandable systems.
• Responsible use of AI tools for research, code review, documentation, test generation, and automation to improve effectiveness. Ability to validate AI outputs, never share confidential or personal data without authorization, and retain human accountability for decisions and deliverables.

Nice to Haves:

• Experience with major cloud providers such as AWS (EKS) or Google Cloud Platform (GKE).
• Experience with ArgoCD or GitOps workflows for declarative, Git-driven infrastructure management.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages for writing scripts and automation tools.
• Experience with SLOs and alerting frameworks, having helped teams define meaningful service level objectives and set up effective alerts.

Compensation

Camunda offers competitive, fair, and transparent compensation. Salary ranges are location based, with Standard and Major markets (global tech hubs) reflecting local competition. The Annual Total Target Cash (base salary + 100% variable target, where applicable) shown below spans from the minimum in a Standard market to the maximum in a Major market. Final offers depend on skills, experience, and location, with hiring typically occurring in the first half of the range to allow for growth.

• United States: $149,800.00 to $241,500.00
• United Kingdom: £94,100.00 to £154,700.00
• Singapore: S$186,100.00 to S$279,100.00
• Canada: C$159,100 to C$261,600

For candidates based elsewhere, employment will be via Remote.com (Camunda's global employer partner), and a personalized Total Rewards Calculator will be provided after the first interview by the Talent Acquisition Partner.
