An Overview of This Role
As a Senior Product Manager, Growth, you will be responsible for GitLabโs self-serve product journey from start to finish. This includes a visitor's initial interaction with GitLab.com, through trial, activation, and eventual paid conversion. In the rapidly expanding agentic era of software demand, self-serve growth is a critical avenue for GitLab to capture market share. You will integrate acquisition, activation, and monetization into a unified, connected experience, leveraging experimentation and product data to drive compound growth across the entire funnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete self-serve journey, encompassing signup, trial, activation, and monetization.
- Utilize product usage and event data to pinpoint high-impact, well-defined growth opportunities, and maintain a continuous test-and-learn cycle throughout the funnel.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, and Data colleagues to scope, sequence, and implement experiments, proactively identifying cross-functional dependencies.
- Establish clear success metrics for each initiative, directly linking roadmap decisions to tangible customer and revenue outcomes.
- Operate within a small, autonomous team, taking full ownership of your roadmap and the resulting outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in product management, ideally with end-to-end ownership of a self-serve or product-led growth funnel.
- Strong technical aptitude: a solid understanding of how software is built, packaged, deployed, and operated.
- Excellent analytical skills, proficiency in SQL, and a hypothesis-driven methodology for product decisions.
- Proficiency in experimentation and A/B testing, with a proven history of delivering frequent, measurable product enhancements.
- Comfortable working directly with production usage and event data.
- Highly independent and pragmatic, with a strong bias for action.
- Exceptional written and spoken English, with comfort working asynchronously in a distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with common growth frameworks, such as acquisition loops, activation loops, and product-qualified leads (PQLs).
- Previous experience at a Product-Led Growth company.
- Experience with GitLab, Git, or general Git workflows.
- Background in building developer tools or DevOps products.
- Experience engaging with B2B customers.
