Job Description

About Fingerprint

Fingerprint helps enterprises detect and prevent online fraud using cutting-edge device intelligence. We lead the industry with highly accurate identification capabilities, transforming new ideas in fraud detection into practical solutions. Our diverse customer base includes innovative startups and major enterprises like Plaid, Dropbox, and Booking.com. We are a globally dispersed, 100% remote company, recognized on the 2026 Forbes Best Startup Employers list and ranked #803 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list. We have secured $77M in funding from notable investors such as Craft Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, and Uncorrelated Ventures.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to develop and manage the end-to-end fraud detection systems powering our Identification APIs. Your main focus will be on building high-performance backend systems and ensuring their reliability at scale. You will own the services you create, from development to production behavior. This role demands strong expertise in backend software development, especially API creation and scaling existing Go-based systems, combined with a keen interest in reliability engineering. You will design and implement scalable, high-performance backend solutions, maintain their Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and manage features throughout their lifecycle from conception to deployment and ongoing operation. A crucial aspect of this position is a deep understanding of scaling and operating distributed systems, enabling us to safely and efficiently expand our capacity as our user base rapidly grows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize backend systems for real-time data processing and web services, prioritizing reliability, latency, and cost.
  • Own Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and SLOs for Core API services, utilizing error budgets to balance development speed with system stability.
  • Implement comprehensive observability tools, including metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, and alerts that respond to user-visible issues rather than noise.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, effectively respond to incidents, and lead blameless postmortems. Schedules are predetermined to ensure fair coverage and minimize off-hours disruption.
  • Reduce operational burden through automation and resolve incident action items to prevent recurring failures.
  • Conduct capacity planning, load testing, and performance tuning to ensure the platform scales proactively with demand.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on integrations and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development, including significant time operating production systems.
  • Strong, demonstrated proficiency with Go, scalable APIs, real-time data processing, and microservices.
  • Hands-on experience managing production services with Docker and Kubernetes, and utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Working familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Datadog), instrumenting services and creating effective dashboards and alerts.
  • On-call experience: triaging live incidents, mitigating impact, and documenting resolutions.
  • Strong SQL skills, plus experience with databases such as DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
  • Proficiency with Git, shell scripting, and CI/CD pipelines, along with fluency in English for our global, remote team.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments with direct stakeholder interaction, and eagerness to mentor junior engineers.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with analytical storage systems (e.g., ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks).
  • Familiarity with queueing and streaming systems (e.g., SQS, Kafka).
  • Expertise in performance profiling and cost optimization for high-throughput cloud workloads.
  • Experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Qdrant) in production.
  • Background in ML-adjacent product engineering, concurrent programming, or a strong understanding of internet security and privacy mechanisms.

Tools and Technologies

  • Backend Development: Golang
  • Infrastructure and Delivery: AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
  • Observability: Datadog, metrics, logging, tracing
  • Data Analytics/Processing: ClickHouse, dbt
