Role Overview & Team Impact
This role is for an individual committed to operational excellence and moments that truly define a company's functionality: a well-executed performance cycle, an insight that shifts a leader's decision-making, or an employee feeling valued due to thorough follow-through. You are proficient across all aspects of the work. You can navigate challenging conversations with a manager in the morning and build a contextualizing dashboard in the afternoon. You care deeply about the employee experience within a remote, globally distributed team and are hands-on with tools that help HR functions scale while maintaining a human touch. You will serve as the operational backbone and data layer of the People function. Operationally, you set a high standard for meticulous detail. You'll partner closely with the Head of People, owning a broad scope independently while discerning when to involve others.
As our Senior People Generalist, you'll be a trusted partner to managers and a coach to team members throughout their entire employee lifecycle. You own the infrastructure and programs that ensure the People function operates effectively every day.
What You'll Own
Manager and Team Member Partnership
- Be a day-to-day partner for managers across the company on people-related questions, team dynamics, and coaching needs.
- Partner with the Head of People on employee relations across the team, exercising case-by-case judgment on who leads. As a general guide, you will lead on standard situations (performance concerns, interpersonal friction, accommodation questions, manager-team dynamics) while the Head of People leads on more complex cases or those involving senior team members.
- Coach managers and team members through difficult conversations and various people matters that arise.
People Operations
- Own our core people processes end-to-end: onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, compliance documentation, and HR systems. Build and maintain the infrastructure that ensures smooth operations.
- Identify and implement workflow automations and AI tools that create significant leverage and resolve problems across People functions.
- Own internal communications for People programs, policy updates, and initiatives, and leverage change management expertise when processes evolve.
People Programs and Enablement
- Own the operational layer of our performance cycles: setup, timelines, and completion tracking.
- Build valuable manager enablement resources that managers actively utilize and serve as the first point of contact for daily people questions.
- Own employee engagement end-to-end: survey administration, data analysis, and surfacing clear insights from the data. Help drive measurable change based on employee feedback.
People Analytics and Reporting
- Build and maintain people dashboards and trackers covering essential People data.
- Produce insight-led summaries from data; help us understand the 'why' behind the numbers, not just what they indicate.
- Provide support to Recruiting when needed on coordination and enhancing the candidate experience.
What You Bring
- 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, HRBP, or hybrid HRBP / People Ops role.
- Sound judgment in employment law and employee relations fundamentals.
- Comfort owning an HR / People Operations tech stack.
- Strong analytical skills, with fluency in spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Strong written communicator, comfortable creating scalable documentation.
- Hands-on, day-to-day experience using AI tools in your HR work.
- Experience supporting globally distributed teams across multiple employment models and regions.
- Fast and iterative; comfortable presenting a V1 to stakeholders and refining it subsequently.
- Empathetic and decisive; thoughtful in weighing tradeoffs, confident in the decisions made.
- Earns trust through consistent follow-through.

Nice to Have
- Background in gaming, social platforms, creator economy, or VR/AR, with bonus points if you understand that the product IS the community.

- You've spent time in VRChat, or you're curious about social VR and its impact on human connection.
