Job Description

About Bolt.new by StackBlitz

Bolt.new by StackBlitz created WebContainers, pioneering technology that runs Node.js directly in your browser. This innovation, developed in 2019, powers an online IDE used by over a million developers monthly.

Building on this success, they developed Bolt.new, an AI powered app builder designed for instant creation, editing, and deployment of full stack web and mobile applications in the browser. It features no installs, no setup, smart automation, and instant development environments for rapid iteration.

Bolt.new operates as a fully remote, globally distributed team, emphasizing collaboration and passion for advancing software development. This is an opportunity to join a small team with a significant vision, ideal for those who enjoy fast shipping, solving complex problems, and pushing technological boundaries.

About This Senior Product Manager Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Product, this role focuses on building Bolt’s collaboration platform for the agentic era. This is not just a coding tool or an AI wrapper, but a space where individuals with strong judgment can direct AI agents to construct and deploy real software.

Bolt is experiencing rapid growth, offering immense scope for impact. Every hire holds significant weight. As a senior individual contributor (IC) in product, you will operate at a system level. This means you won’t be given a predefined roadmap; instead, you'll identify critical product problems across the entire ecosystem and lead efforts to resolve them.

Responsibilities might include addressing retention issues, streamlining user journeys spanning multiple interfaces, or determining the consistent behavior of new capabilities across the product. You will collaborate with a high achieving, fast moving product team. This position is suited for experienced senior ICs from product led companies who possess strong opinions about effective software design and thrive when given autonomy rather than a rigid plan.

Key Contributions

  • Define product strategy for ambiguous, high impact areas, making clear prioritization decisions based on customer insights, product quality, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Own complex, cross surface initiatives from initial diagnosis through to shipment, overseeing the entire work process rather than just scoping and delegating.
  • Actively use the product as a real user would to preemptively identify and address issues before customers encounter them.
  • Co-own key metrics for your area, including activation, engagement, retention, and expansion, using them to focus the team on high leverage activities.
  • Lead discovery processes involving users, customers, customer experience, sales, and internal teams, translating qualitative signals, product usage data, and market context into sharp product judgment.
  • Partner cross functionally to navigate difficult tradeoffs, build alignment, and deliver high impact work.
  • Ensure consistent product experience and deliver value to diverse user groups, regardless of technical ability or use case.
  • Translate observations into clear, written thinking that empowers the rest of the team to take action.
  • Elevate the standard of product thinking across the team primarily through exemplary work.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product experience, including substantial time operating at a senior individual contributor level with significant scope and ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated senior IC product work in a product led company, with proven ability to create leverage without requiring a large team or a perfect plan.
  • Strong understanding of product led growth principles, capable of tracing the connection from product levers like activation or onboarding to retention and revenue, instinctively applying these insights.
  • Exceptional product judgment, able to identify when something is amiss, understand why, and translate that intuition into a clear product direction.
  • Comfort with technical details; while coding isn't required, you must be able to engage in meaningful discussions with engineers about tradeoffs.
  • Familiarity with developer tools and AI products is a significant advantage.
  • Strong sense of ownership, moving with urgency and maintaining high standards without constant supervision or extensive structure.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential for frequent collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and customers.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience building developer tools, AI products, or other technical products for a technical audience.
  • Ability to prototype ideas roughly to effectively convey points rather than solely relying on descriptions.

Important Notes

  • A college degree is not required for this position.
  • Location in the U.S. is not required; this is a remote friendly role.
  • Meeting every qualification listed above is not necessary to apply.
