Senior Accountant North America - Remote at Alpaca

Alpaca, a US-headquartered global leader in agent-first brokerage infrastructure for stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, and fixed income, is seeking a Senior Accountant for its fully remote Accounting & Finance team.

As the Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening and scaling our accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role reports to the Assistant Controller and requires cross-functional partnership to support company growth and regulatory compliance.

What You Will Do

• Prepare and document journal entries in compliance with GAAP and established company policies.
• Take ownership of and help optimize the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and initiating process automation.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Support the ongoing development and improvement of internal financial reporting and distribution processes.
• Assist with the annual financial statement audit by preparing necessary supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Coordinate with the parent company regarding tax documentation and information requests.
• Operate within a multi-entity environment, acting as a key resource for adjacent teams within the organization.
• Assist with weekly reserve computations and related reporting.
• Develop, document, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and special projects as needed.

Qualifications (Required)

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• High attention to detail with a proven track record for accuracy and organization.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, evolving environment while working independently in a remote setting.
• A capacity to adapt to changing business needs and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, maintaining a team-first mindset.
• Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• CPA designation.
• Experience working for a broker-dealer, clearing firm, or other regulated financial services organization.
• Experience using Netsuite.
