Responsibilities

The team's primary responsibility is to act as stewards and enhancers of the existing developer platform.

• Team Goals: Maintain and improve a cloud-native platform, expand self-service capabilities for engineering teams to manage resources and workflows independently, aggressively automate manual processes to reduce toil, increase reliability, and improve developer efficiency, and ensure the platform remains highly observable, scalable, and secure.
• Monitor and proactively manage the infrastructure to meet its requirements.
• Ensure continuous service availability and operational integrity 24/7, including participation in a compensated on-call rotation.

Tools and Technologies

• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
• Cloud Providers: Primarily AWS (ECS, RDS, SQS, SNS, VPC, KMS, SM) and some GCP (Datastream, Cloud functions, BigQuery, etc.)
• Containerization: Docker
• CI/CD & Automation: GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Monitoring & Observability: Coralogix/PagerDuty
• Scripting: Python and Bash

We value individuals who can contribute to solving common platform issues using established procedures and, more importantly, identify automation opportunities to prevent future manual work. We seek collaborative teammates who communicate clearly on platform improvements and understand developer needs. A natural inclination to automate repetitive tasks and continuously seek efficiency is highly valued.

Skills Needed

• 3-5 years of experience in platform engineering with relevant skills.
• A foundational understanding of technologies powering an automated, self-service platform:
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
• Cloud Providers: Primarily AWS and some GCP
• Containerization: Docker
• CI/CD & Automation: Possible experience with pipelines like GitHub Actions.
• Monitoring & Observability: Tools like Coralogix or similar.
• Scripting: We use Python and Bash for scripts integrated into infrastructure or for automated tasks.
• Ability and eagerness to contribute to solving common platform issues and identify automation opportunities.
• Strong collaborative skills, including clear communication on platform improvements and understanding developer needs.
• A natural inclination to automate repetitive tasks and continuously seek efficiency.
