The Opportunity: Business Intelligence Engineer

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be embedded within our product team. You will leverage data to improve decision-making processes across the organization, supporting our ambitious mission to build a global social safety net. You will play a crucial role in providing valuable insights that drive product strategy and business growth. If you are passionate about using data to solve complex problems and thrive in a remote, fast-paced environment, this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure data quality and accessibility.
  • Develop and implement interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau to visualize key business metrics.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for optimization across various business functions.
  • Support the development of data-driven strategies for product features, marketing campaigns, and operational efficiencies.
  • Contribute to the overall data strategy and infrastructure of SafetyWing.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all reporting and analytical outputs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Business Intelligence Engineer or Data Analyst.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with experience presenting insights to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, globally distributed team.
  • A passion for our mission to build a global social safety net.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake).
  • Proficiency in Python or R for advanced data analysis.
  • Familiarity with insurance or healthcare data.
