About the Role: Team Lead, Digital Design

As a Team Lead, Digital Design, you will be responsible for managing, coaching, and mentoring a dedicated team of digital designers. Your primary goal is to drive operational excellence through effective KPI and metric management. A critical aspect of your leadership will be cultivating a positive team environment that embodies the Dandy Drivers, which are fundamental to our work, growth, and success.

Key Responsibilities

Managing & Coaching

  • Lead a team of 10-15 digital designers.
  • Oversee Focus Area scheduling, shifts, training, and time off (PTO & STO).
  • Monitor individual quality and performance through regular audits.
  • Provide continuous Performance Management & Coaching to designers through 1:1s and feedback sessions, fostering improvement.
  • Establish and track development plans for all unscheduled designers.
  • Identify and leverage internal resources when support is needed.
  • Understand designer career goals and document their growth plans.

Metrics & Performance

  • Possess a deep understanding of Dandy's business metrics used to evaluate the design workforce for both quality and UPD. Articulate each team member's performance against these metrics.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define quality and throughput targets, ensuring your team consistently meets them.
  • Ensure team alignment with established systems and processes, escalating major issues for broader system updates and adjustments as necessary.

Fostering a Culture of Success

  • Promote an inclusive, positive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Enhance team engagement through team-building activities, celebrating both collective achievements and personal milestones.
  • Manage front-line sentiment and workplace concerns in partnership with leadership and human resources to ensure a safe, respectful, and positive working environment.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with other teams and leadership.
  • Collaborate efficiently across functions to resolve problems and maintain alignment.
  • Share updates, surface issues, and build strong working relationships across various teams.

  • Deliver high-quality work on team or department projects.
  • Utilize sound judgment and root cause analysis when approaching problem-solving.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Act as a primary knowledge resource for your area of expertise.
  • Apply structured decision-making to support and enhance team outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong design experience in CAD/CAM dental workflows, coupled with deep knowledge of your product line and a proven track record of consistently high quality and throughput.
  • Demonstrated ability to share knowledge, mentor peers, and actively support the development of others.
  • Proficiency in identifying teammates' strengths, spotting areas for improvement, and delivering constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Adept at prioritizing tasks, managing workload distribution, and adapting swiftly to changing business needs.
  • Willingness to thrive in a high-velocity, evolving environment while maintaining a positive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Comfort working with multiple systems and an eagerness to quickly learn new tools and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor your message effectively for both peers and leadership.
  • A collaborative mindset, fostering strong working relationships across diverse teams.
  • Willingness to engage hands-on to address problems, setting a positive example for the team.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to continuous learning and problem-solving.
  • Strong written and spoken English proficiency.

Bonus Points For

  • Prior experience in directly managing, mentoring, training, and/or informally leading others within a production environment.
  • Experience in facilitating peer learning or team discussions to enhance skills and processes.
  • Familiarity with data and spreadsheets for tracking performance or workflow metrics.
