Are you a detail-oriented Data Quality Assurance Engineer passionate about ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data across complex environments? Applaudo is seeking an individual with hands-on experience validating high-volume datasets, rigorously testing ETL processes, and leveraging SQL to identify data inconsistencies and verify expected results. This role is ideal for an analytical professional comfortable navigating diverse databases, Big Data environments, and intricate backend systems.

You will bring a strong quality mindset to data-driven solutions, actively collaborating with technical teams to pinpoint defects, uphold data integrity, and continuously enhance testing practices. Please note: This is a 3-month contractor model role.

Key Responsibilities of a Data Quality Assurance Engineer:

• Perform comprehensive data quality validations to guarantee the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data processing within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Craft and execute medium to complex SQL queries for precise data validation and verification of anticipated outcomes.
• Rigorously test and validate ETL processes and data transformations throughout the entire data lifecycle.
• Execute testing and verification of backend applications, various databases, Big Data environments, and associated tools, adhering to established best practices.
• Verify the accurate capture of analytics events within related file systems or databases, utilizing SQL or scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
• Develop, maintain, and execute regression automation for GUI applications, backend services, and ETL processes.
• Proactively identify, meticulously document, diligently track, and clearly communicate defects discovered during the testing phase.
• Create and maintain robust test plans, detailed test cases, and essential supporting QA documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with technical teams to thoroughly investigate data-quality issues and facilitate prompt defect resolution.

Required Competencies & Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred, or equivalent substantial professional experience.
• Possess 1+ years of professional experience in Big Data and Data Quality Testing.
• Demonstrated experience applying data profiling techniques when working with high volumes of data.
• Proven hands-on experience testing ETL processes and validating data throughout its lifecycle.
• Strong proficiency with SQL for data validation and testing, including the ability to write medium to complex queries.
• Solid understanding of both relational and non-relational databases, with expertise in data integrity verification.
• Experience working with scheduling and orchestration tools such as Airflow, AutoSys, or similar technologies.
• Experience with test management tools like ALM and requirement/defect management tools such as Jira.
• Proficiency in creating, documenting, maintaining, and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Experience in documenting, tracking, and effectively communicating defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Strong analytical acumen and exceptional problem-solving skills, coupled with a robust quality assurance mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
