An Overview of This Role

As an IT Enterprise Applications Engineer at GitLab, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of critical business processes that underpin the company's sales, procurement, accounting, and scaling efforts. Your primary focus will be on NetSuite and Zuora Revenue, where you will build and support the necessary systems, configurations, workflows, and code. This work is vital for maintaining the efficiency, compliance, and reliability of processes such as Quote to Cash, Procure to Pay, and Record to Report.

You will join the Enterprise Applications G&A team, reporting to the Senior Manager, G&A Systems. This role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders to convert operational needs into sustainable technical solutions. It is an excellent fit for individuals who desire ownership over both day-to-day administration and long-term system enhancements. You will work autonomously on problems of medium complexity, ensure SOX-compliant change management, contribute to system roadmap decisions, and support the team in delivering scalable application support within a fully remote work environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Administer and configure NetSuite and Zuora Revenue to effectively support GitLab's business processes and compliant system operations.
  • Translate evolving business needs into precise technical requirements, workflows, customizations, and application changes designed to enhance process efficiency.
  • Partner closely with Finance teams, business systems peers, and other stakeholders to ensure applications function as intended and meet operational demands.
  • Support SOX-compliant change management protocols, including diligent documentation, governance, and strict adherence to data, security, and legal guidelines.
  • Manage inbound integrations and data flows across various enterprise systems, actively troubleshooting issues within the broader ERP and revenue systems landscape.
  • Contribute code, customizations, and integrations within development environments, following GitLab's SDLC practices and internal engineering standards.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and support the delivery of maintainable, well-documented technical solutions aligned with team guidelines.
  • Lead small-scale projects and actively contribute to team planning for new features, process improvements, and strategic system roadmap decisions.

What You’ll Bring

Core Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a system administration role, ideally within an enterprise SaaS software model.
  • Extensive administrator experience with NetSuite and Zuora Revenue, including:
    • Intermediate knowledge of NetSuite data objects, workflows, custom fields, and custom forms.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and comprehensively understand the integration landscape feeding into and from our ERP.
    • Understanding of NetSuite SuiteScripting and SQL is considered a significant advantage.
  • Proven SOX experience, including successfully engaging with auditors to provide effective walkthroughs of system processes.
  • Strong foundational business process knowledge of finance and accounting operations, such as procure to pay and record to report, is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Zuora Revenue (RevPro) Administration: Configure and maintain revenue rules, POB templates, SSP allocations, and accounting treatments to ensure ASC 606 compliance across multi-element arrangements.
  • Expertise in Data Integration & Pipeline Management: Manage inbound data flows from upstream billing and CRM systems (e.g., Zuora Billing, Salesforce), including staging table validation, error triage, and resolution of held transactions.
  • Experience with Revenue Close & GL Reconciliation: Support period-end close processes, including general journal entry generation, GL account mapping, revenue waterfall review, and subledger-to-ERP reconciliation (e.g., NetSuite).
  • Strong Troubleshooting & Exception Management skills: Investigate and resolve revenue processing exceptions, contract modifications, reallocation events, and data quality issues throughout the order-to-revenue lifecycle.

Preferred Skills

  • Secondary system knowledge is a plus, including Salesforce, DocuSign CLM, Zuora Billing, Coupa, Zip, Navan, Workday, ADP, Ironclad, Xactly, and Workato.
  • Familiarity with GitLab SDLC and DAP.
  • Knowledge of Claude tools (Claude cowork, Claude code, & MCP) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with VSCode, Git, and Javascript.
  • Multiple industry certifications are preferred.
  • Prior experience in a public company and with SOX ITGC controls is preferred.

About the Team

The Enterprise Applications team is responsible for many of GitLab’s core internal business systems, including platforms like Salesforce, Zuora, NetSuite, Navan, and Zip. The team supports the essential processes that enable the business to operate at scale. Working asynchronously across a distributed environment, the team introduces new capabilities, maintains production stability, and upholds compliance requirements for critical applications. This work is central to a key opportunity: continuously improving how business systems connect, automate, and support reliable operations as GitLab continues its growth trajectory.
