Graduate Software Engineer at CloudLinux at CloudLinux
Job Description
Join CloudLinux as a Graduate Engineer
We are seeking high-potential final-year students and recent graduates who possess strong problem-solving skills and the drive to grow into outstanding technical contributors at CloudLinux. This is a paid, full-time graduate role and an excellent first step into a professional engineering career. You will work on real products, learn directly from experienced engineers, and deepen your technical expertise in Linux, open-source software, and security.
We are looking for individuals who combine strong independent thinking with the ability to leverage Artificial Intelligence confidently to solve complex technical challenges- mastering unfamiliar code, developing effective solutions, and critically evaluating outcomes.
About CloudLinux
CloudLinux is a global, remote-first company. We are guided by our core principles: doing what is right, prioritizing employees, maintaining a remote-first culture, and delivering high-volume, low-cost Linux infrastructure and security products that help businesses optimize their operations. Every member of our team supports one another to ensure collective success.
What You Will Do
You will join an engineering team focused on Linux infrastructure and security for web hosting. Our products include CloudLinux OS, which enables hosting providers to manage server resources and isolate accounts, and Imunify, which provides robust protection against malware and cyber attacks.
While specific prior experience in these areas is not required, we value strong engineering potential- focusing on your approach to unfamiliar problems, your capacity to learn rapidly, and your thoughtful application of AI. We assess candidates based on their challenge results, interests, and strengths against the opportunities available across our engineering teams. Experienced engineers on your team will mentor you in our codebase, tools, and working methodology.
- Developing and testing product features, fixes, and engineering tools.
- Investigating production issues, determining root causes, and implementing reliable solutions.
- Analyzing unfamiliar code to understand system interactions.
- Improving automation for software building, testing, and delivery.
- Contributing to code reviews and technical discussions.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Practical programming skills in at least one language, such as C, C++, Python, or Go, demonstrated through coursework, personal projects, or early hands-on experience.
- Strong analytical thinking abilities, solid fundamentals in algorithms and data structures, and a structured methodology for problem solving.
- Proficiency in using AI tools to navigate complex programming problems, critically assessing and refining AI outputs, and explaining and testing the resultant solutions.
- A high degree of curiosity, independent learning ability, and persistence when solutions are not immediately apparent.
- A commitment to code quality and the ability to drive a task to a fully tested, working solution.
- Clear communication skills and the capacity to articulate technical decisions effectively.
- English proficiency at a B2 level or higher.
We are welcoming candidates at the very beginning of their engineering journeys, including:
- Final-year students.
- Recent graduates.
This is a full-time role, which applies even to those who are currently completing their studies.
What Will Help You Stand Out
While not mandatory, the following additions to your application can strengthen your profile:
- A degree (or final-year standing) in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent skills demonstrated through your projects and code.
- Personal or academic software projects, especially those where you can explain your design choices.
- Contributions to open-source projects, regardless of scale.
- Participation in CTF competitions, hackathons, or managing your own homelab.
- Evidence of self-teaching a language, stack, or system deeply because a specific problem required it.
- A keen interest in Linux, operating systems, networking, or security, demonstrated through coursework, research, or personal projects.
If your CV does not fully capture your potential, we encourage you to apply anyway. Show us what you have built, the challenging problems you have solved, and what makes you unique among peers at a similar career stage.
How Selection Works
We place significant value on what you build over just your CV.
- Apply quickly - use autofill from your CV or LinkedIn.
- We conduct a preliminary review of all applications. Those who appear to be a good fit will receive a personal link to our engineering challenge.
- This challenge is designed to reflect a real problem from our security products and is intended solely to assess your approach and skills.
- You will have up to 3 hours to complete the task.
- The task evolves through phases with changing requirements. We are interested in observing your prioritization and reasoning, not whether you complete every single part of the task.
- AI tools are encouraged, not just permitted. We want to see your judgment: what you accept, reject, and verify, and how you defend your trade offs.
- Candidates whose challenge results demonstrate a strong alignment with our needs will be invited to interview with our senior engineers and HR.
Benefits
Here is what CloudLinux offers:
- Fully remote work with flexible hours - schedule your day and work from anywhere in the world.
- 24 paid vacation days per year, 10 national holidays, and unlimited sick leave.
- Compensation for private medical insurance.
- Reimbursement for coworking space and gym/sports memberships.
- A dedicated education budget.
- A unique reward for the most innovative idea the company can patent.
- A genuine focus on professional development through interesting and challenging projects.
By applying for this position, you agree to the processing of your personal data as detailed in our Privacy Policy (https://cloudlinux.com/candidate-privacy-notice), which outlines how we manage and handle your information.
