Our high-performance culture is fueled by our values and continuous knowledge exchange, empowering team members to reach their full potential while collaborating with industry leaders to solve complex problems. Join us in co-creating the future by building technology that transforms how the world develops software.

Role Overview: Business Development Representative (BDR)

This position is 100% remote and is based in the UK, Ireland, Spain, and France. GitLab seeks an enthusiastic and strategic Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our expanding Sales team. As a BDR at GitLab, you will spearhead initial outreach to targeted accounts, working closely with our Field, Digital Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams. You will use creative marketing and sales tactics to prospect and engage with various buyer personas and roles to introduce GitLab's AI-powered DevSecOps platform. Your primary responsibility is to generate qualified meetings and pipeline for the GitLab Sales organization.

While our BDRs come from diverse backgrounds, many have previous experience in closing roles or team management. GitLab provides an extensive onboarding and training program, ensuring you gain the necessary DevOps and GitLab knowledge to excel in this role.

What You Will Do

  • Execute outbound prospecting initiatives to generate qualified meetings and build pipeline within your assigned territory.
  • Identify New Logo and Growth opportunities within existing customer accounts.
  • Conduct high-level discovery conversations with target accounts to understand business needs, qualify prospects, and create Sales Accepted Opportunities (SAOs).
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for BDR-sourced Sales Accepted Opportunities (SAOs) by consistently converting qualified prospects into opportunities.
  • Research and prioritize target accounts by leveraging business and industry knowledge to pinpoint key players, uncover compelling events, and devise tailored outreach strategies.
  • Execute a multi-touch outreach cadence (calls, emails, social, etc.) for all prospects in your assigned territory using Outreach to maximize engagement and conversion rates.
  • Manage, track, and accurately report all prospecting activities and pipeline in Salesforce to maintain clear performance visibility and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with Field, Corporate, and Digital Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams to build targeted account lists, campaigns, and call strategies. Attend regional marketing events to engage participants, generate leads, and drive qualified Sales Accepted Opportunities (SAOs).
  • Document and continuously improve Business Development Representative processes within the GitLab handbook in partnership with your Business Development Manager.
  • Mentor new BDR hires to accelerate their ramp time and help them navigate key accounts.

What You Will Bring

  • Fluency in Italian is required.
  • Previous experience in an outbound sales development role within the tech industry is mandatory.
  • Possess positive and energetic phone skills, excellent listening abilities, and strong writing skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, manage a high volume of outreach, and consistently follow through on prospecting efforts.
  • Show proven initiative, persistence when facing setbacks, and the ability to independently drive projects or activities to successful conclusions.
  • Maintain alignment with our values and operate in accordance with them.
  • Possess knowledge of business processes, roles, and organizational structures.
  • Be proficient with Salesforce, Sales Navigator, and Outreach, or similar prospecting and sequencing tools.
  • Willingness to travel for events such as trainings, team offsites, and customer meetings.
  • Proficiency in English, our company language, is required for effective communication.

About the Team

As a member of GitLab's growing Sales team, you will collaborate closely with the Field and Digital Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams. Our BDRs come from varied backgrounds, and we offer extensive onboarding and training so you can acquire the necessary DevOps and GitLab knowledge for success. You will partner with Account Executives, working fully remote and distributed across multiple time zones, collaborating asynchronously via GitLab, video calls, and shared playbooks. This role offers a clear pathway for advancement into an Account Executive position at GitLab. Remote-Global
