What You'll Do

Chess.com Video Editors are responsible for producing high-quality, engaging chess content tailored for various digital platforms. This role requires a unique combination of highly developed technical editing skills, creative storytelling abilities, and a profound understanding of current social media trends. You will transform raw footage into compelling videos that captivate the global chess community and align seamlessly with the Chess.com brand.

• Edit and assemble raw video footage into polished short-form and long-form content, meticulously optimized for diverse social media platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
• Enhance video content through the expert application of motion graphics, precise cuts, smooth transitions, accurate color correction, professional audio mixing, compelling visual effects, and dynamic graphic overlays.
• Research and integrate current social media trends and innovative editing techniques to maintain fresh and relevant content.
• Review raw footage from tournaments and live streams to identify key storylines, viral moments, and compelling highlights suitable for standalone content.
• Analyze video performance metrics to continuously refine editing style, pacing, and storytelling approaches for maximum audience impact and retention.
• Ensure that all final video assets adhere strictly to Chess.com's brand guidelines, visual aesthetics, and consistent tone of voice.
• Maintain flexibility in your schedule, which may include working off-hours and weekends as needed.

About You

• Advanced proficiency across the entire Adobe Suite, with particular specialization in Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Blender, and Cinema 4D.
• Demonstrated understanding of YouTube video optimization strategies and content strategy for major social media platforms.
• Strong storytelling capabilities, coupled with a keen sense of pacing, timing, and narrative structure.
• Deep awareness of contemporary internet culture, popular memes, and viral video trends.
• Comprehensive understanding of the rules, terminology, notation, and cultural aspects of chess.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Prior professional experience editing content specifically for chess, esports, or traditional sports is highly desirable.
