Senior iOS Engineer for Places Client Team at Raya

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to join the Places Client team. This team is responsible for building and elevating member-facing experiences across the Places iOS app. This role is a senior client engineering position with significant technical impact on our mobile application.

The ideal candidate should have experience building and maintaining high-scale consumer iOS applications end to end, demonstrating strong ownership from architectural decisions through to production execution. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineering teams to deliver robust features, ensure software health, and drive technical excellence across the codebase.

Responsibilities

• Build and own core member-facing features end to end.
• Establish architectural patterns and best practices, and solve complex client-side lifecycle and state management challenges.
• Partner with the server engineering team on API design, ensuring data correctness and client server state synchronization.
• Work with product, design, and data science to scope, experiment with, and launch member-facing features.
• Focus on the minute details of interaction, motion, and performance.
• Contribute to a large, long-lived iOS codebase, focusing on performance, testing practices, and deliberate tech debt management.
• Take ownership of production health for core flows, including monitoring, crash triage, and release quality assurance.
• Raise the engineering standard through code reviews, mentorship, and clear technical specifications.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of professional iOS development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Swift, UIKit, and MVVM.
• Solid experience with RxSwift or equivalent reactive programming frameworks.
• A proven track record of shipping consumer mobile applications to large user bases, with strong judgment in architecture, performance, and user experience.
• A strong consumer product sense, a high standard for design quality, and the ability to partner effectively with product, design, and data teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects from initial concept through successful launch, balancing speed and quality, and owning the feature post-launch.
• Proficiency in using AI coding tools in daily work, helping the team adopt these tools, and identifying opportunities to improve the engineering process.

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience with StoreKit 2, subscriptions, and paywall or pricing experiments, including subscription analytics.
• Experience with Mapbox or complex map-based interfaces.
• Familiarity with SwiftUI alongside UIKit, and experience modularizing a large iOS codebase.
• Experience with backend development, such as building the APIs and services that mobile clients depend on.
• Familiarity with Redux-style state management patterns.
