About the Team and Role

Every day, millions of people seek answers and share their knowledge through Quora. The Quora Core Product team is the creative powerhouse responsible for the continuous evolution of the Quora user experience. Our engineers work at the intersection of software development, design, and data science to build intuitive features that foster knowledge sharing and community engagement.

As a Software Engineer on the Quora Core Product team, you will:

• Have a significant impact on a wide array of features essential to the Quora community, working on projects that improve user engagement, drive user growth, generate informative and engaging content using AI, ensure high-quality content through effective moderation, and enhance the overall creator experience.
• Leverage data and experimentation to create solutions that will reach millions of users.
• Engage with a fast-paced development environment, delivering engaging features that meet our high standards of quality and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Develop full stack applications using Python and React.
• Contribute to projects that shape our core product experience, driving growth, ensuring healthy moderation, and empowering creators.
• Design and launch product features at massive scale, using data and experimentation to guide each iteration.
• Drive projects from ideation to production using the full technology stack.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, fellow engineers, and data scientists to prototype and implement functionality and analyze impact.
• Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to ensure Quora provides a reliable and high quality product.

Minimum Requirements:

• Availability for meetings and impromptu communication during Quora's coordination hours (Mon-Fri: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).
• Must be a 2025 or 2026 graduate with or pursuing a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Possess a foundational understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design through coursework or practical experience.
• Experience with Python or similar programming language, or the proven ability to learn them quickly.
• Possess a passion for learning and always improving yourself and the team around you.

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, and/or coding competition.
• Familiarity with Python, React, TypeScript, and/or SQL.
• Passion for Quora's mission and goals.
• Curiosity about AI and hands-on experience exploring AI tools or building AI-powered projects through coursework, personal projects, or previous work experience.

Additional Information:

Compensation and Location Details:

• US Candidates Only: For US based applicants, the salary range is $97,600 - $139,000 USD plus equity and benefits.
• Canada Candidates Only: For Toronto and Vancouver based applicants, the salary range is $125,320 - $142,783 CAD plus equity and benefits. For all other locations in Canada, the salary range is $116,965 - $133,264 CAD plus equity and benefits.
• We offer a flexible equity program where a portion of equity compensation may be taken as cash in equity-eligible countries.
