AI Engineer at Phantom

About the Role

At Phantom, we are looking for an AI Engineer to play a key role in shaping how Artificial Intelligence is adopted and scaled across the company. You will be responsible for building internal AI tools, integrations, and automation that empower our teams to work smarter, move faster, and operate more efficiently. This is a hands on engineering role focused on transforming emerging AI capabilities into practical, reliable solutions that drive tangible business impact. You will collaborate with teams across the organization to pinpoint opportunities, construct AI powered workflows, and establish the technical foundations necessary to make AI accessible, secure, and scalable.

We are seeking someone who enjoys building, experimenting, and shipping, possessing a strong grasp of modern Large Language Model (LLM) technologies and the core engineering principles needed to move AI solutions into production.

Responsibilities

• Build AI Solutions: Design, develop, and deploy AI powered tools, agents, and automation to streamline workflows and solve actual business problems across the organization.
• Develop AI Integrations: Connect LLMs and AI applications with internal systems, APIs, and enterprise tools to ensure seamless, intelligent workflows.
• Own AI Infrastructure: Build and maintain the fundamental infrastructure, services, and integrations supporting reliable AI applications across various teams.
• Enable AI Adoption: Partner with stakeholders to find AI opportunities, translate business needs into technical requirements, and empower teams to utilize AI tools effectively.
• Build for Scale: Develop reusable components, frameworks, and tooling that simplify the process for teams building, customizing, and maintaining their own AI workflows.
• Ensure Security & Reliability: Implement necessary access controls, monitoring, observability, and operational safeguards to guarantee AI solutions remain secure, reliable, and maintainable.
• Optimize AI Usage: Continuously monitor model performance, usage patterns, and costs while finding ways to enhance efficiency, quality, and business outcomes.
• Drive Innovation: Keep pace with emerging AI technologies, evaluate new models and frameworks, and proactively identify practical opportunities to introduce new capabilities to the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with proven experience building and maintaining production applications, services, or internal platforms.
• Practical experience developing applications using LLMs, such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or open source models.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages, including experience integrating APIs and constructing backend services.
• Experience creating AI agents, workflow automation, or applications utilizing LLM orchestration frameworks.
• Familiarity with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), tool calling, structured outputs, prompt engineering, and contemporary AI application patterns.
• Experience integrating applications with enterprise tools, internal systems, and third party APIs.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, deployment strategies, monitoring, and production reliability.
• A robust product mindset, with the ability to convert vague business problems into feasible technical solutions.
• Ability to work autonomously, take full ownership of projects, and collaborate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• A genuine enthusiasm for AI, coupled with a bias toward experimentation, execution, and measurable results.

Nice to Have Qualifications

• Experience creating internal AI platforms or enterprise AI automation solutions.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools, agent frameworks, and orchestration platforms.
• Experience with technologies such as LangChain, LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience using MCP, enterprise connectors, and AI tool integrations.
• Familiarity with LLM observability, evaluation frameworks, cost optimization, and usage analytics.
• Experience implementing security, governance, and access controls for enterprise AI applications.
• Experience working in a fast growing technology company where speed, ownership, and adaptability are paramount.
